Sew not a Square

This time Project Quilting asked us to sew anything but a square. As the first trees start to bloom around here I decided to make a postcard with a blooming tree.

I started with the tree cutting it freehand and sewing it down (freehand as well) adding some twigs.

Then I added some pink blooms. I cut them really small but they still seemed too big.

So I dug into my yarn stash and found this variegated pink embroidery yarn.

Perfect for blooms.

Many french knots later my “Ode to Spring” was finished.

A great way to welcome spring!
